I realized that I don’t own many Valentines decorations, so I decided to make my own. I found some supplies at the dollar store and I made this cute little Valentine’s banner. All the supplies cost about $4 plus a few things from around the house.

Materials

pink ribbon (5 feet)

red cardstock or poster board

3×6 light pink paper

3×6 dark pink paper

silver glitter glue

gluestick

scotch tape (optional)

Valentine’s Banner Tutorial

The first step is to cut out your letters. I alternated the letters between light and dark pink. If you have a cricket, you can use it to cut out letters. Otherwise you can hand draw the letters. Make sure your letters are 3″ tall and no more than 2″ wide.

Next, cut out your hearts. Fold over your paper 2 inches so there is a “hook” on the back. Draw and cut out your heart. It should be 5 inches wide. You will need 7 hearts for this banner.

Glue all your letters to your banner. A glue stick works best for this. Make sure to center your letters on the hearts.

Using your silver glitter glue, outline your letters so they really pop on the heart. Let the glue dry.

Now, it’s time to attach your hearts to the ribbon

Cut 5 feet of ribbon and hook each heart onto the ribbon in the correct order. Using tape or glue, attach the folded piece of paper to the back of the heart so it will stay on the ribbon.

Lastly, hang up your Valentine’s banner, and if you have the right kind of ribbon, curl the ends with a pair of scissors.
