I don’t have a lot of Valentines decorations so I set out to make a few easy decorations to liven up my home. I found some cute pink yarn that I thought would make a great heart. So I created this crochet heart coaster using my pink yarn. This pattern is pretty simple and it can easily be done with a bit of scrap yarn. This took less than an hour.
Materials
- G hook
- Small amount of acrylic worsted weight yarn

Row 2: Chain 1, 3 sc in sc. Turn (3)
Row 3: Chain 1, 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (5)
Row 4: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (7)
Row 5: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (7)
Row 6: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (9)
Row 7: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (9)
Row 8: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 7 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (11)
Row 9: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (11)
Row 10: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 9 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (13)
Row 11: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (13)
Row 12: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 11 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Turn (15)
Row 13: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (15)
Row 14: Chain 1, 1 sc in each stitch. Turn (15)
Bump
Row 15: Chain 1, 1 sc in next 7 stitches. Turn (7)
Row 16: Chain 1, 1 sc in next 2 sc, 1 single crochet decrease (scdc) 1 sc in next 3 sc. Turn (6)
Row 17: Chain 1, 1 scdc, 1 sc in next 2 sc, 1 scdc. Turn (4)
Row 18: Chain 1, 2 scdc. Tie off.
Repeat Rows 15-18 on the other side, but don’t tie off. Now your coaster will look like a heart. The edges don’t look very nice, so you will want to preform a sc in each row all the way around the outside of the coaster to create a nice border. There will be 49 stitches around. Tie off and weave in all your threads. Now you have your crochet heart coaster ready for Valentines Day!
