This pipe cleaner Christmas tree is an easy and inexpensive way to add some Christmas cheer to any room. You can make one or do a whole forest of them! This project is easy for even a beginning crafter to make and has easy to find materials that you might already have at home!

Materials

  • green paper
  • green pipe cleaners (I used 8 to make a 5″ tall tree)
  • beads
  • hot glue

Making your pipe cleaner Christmas tree

Start by rolling your paper so it forms a cone shape. This will be the base of your tree. Cut it to the height you want. You may want to place it flat to make sure you have cut evenly. Glue the paper into the cone shape.

Start gluing your pipe cleaners to the cone. Place a small dab of hot glue at the top of your cone and place your pipe cleaner on top. Wrap the pipe cleaner around, make sure each row is touching the one above it so the pipe cleaners fully cover your paper.

Glue the edge of your pipe cleaner down and start with the new one. Repeat this all the way down the tree.

When you glue your last pipe cleaner, tuck the edge under the row above it so it’s not obvious.

Glue your beads onto the tree so they look like ornaments. I decided to only use small ones, but large beads would look great too. I found the beads look best if I actually glued them to the paper in between the rows of pipe cleaner as the glue was less visible.

Glue your tree topper to the top and you are done!
