Christmas is a time to eat lots of sweet treats. I was looking for a fun way to display Christmas candy and stumbled on this cute little jar at the dollar store. It was pretty plain, so I also picked up some glue and sharpies to cute it up. I ended up with this glitter candy jar.

Materials

  • glass jar
  • glitter glue
  • sharpies
  • Vinegar

How to make your glitter candy jar

Start by using your vinegar to wipe off your glass so the sharpie and glue will stick to the glass.

Now, use your sharpie to draw your designs on the jar. Try to keep the sharpie color as close to the glitter glue as you can for best results. Keep your designs simple and avoid doing anything too small or it will be incredibly difficult to get your glue in place over the design. It’s ok if your sharpie drawing isn’t perfect since it will get coated with glitter so small mistakes won’t be visible.

Lastly, go over all your designs with your glitter glue. It’s easy to wipe off any mistakes while the glue is still wet. Start with your main colors if you have any multi colored designs.

Add your accent colors in later, make sure the glue colors are touching, but not overlapping. The glue shrinks slightly as it dries, so if they aren’t fully touching you will have gaps in your design. Let the glue dry. Go over any spots that aren’t as glittery as you want
