My husband recently had to attend a wedding, so I tried my hand at a wedding themed quilled card! A handmade card is always an extra special touch when gift giving. I love the way it turned out, and it didn’t take too long either! This card is totally friendly to beginning quillers. I only used 1/8″ wide quilled strips.
Materials
- 2 18″ white or gold strips of paper (if you use white, you’ll want gold pen/sharpie to color the paper)
- 3 6″ pink strips of paper
- 2 6″ white/off white strips of paper
- 8 2″ light green strips of paper
- Clear school glue
- 1 5″x8″ piece of white/off white cardstock
- Glitter stickers
- slotted quilling tool
- Glue stick or other cylinder with about 1 inch diameter
- sharp tweezers
Rings
The first step is making the rings. Wrap your 18″ piece of paper around your glue stick or other object. Glue the edge closed. If you are using white paper, use your sharpie/pen to color the ring in so it’s the correct color. Place a small amount of glue on the back of the ring and let it dry so the paper doesn’t move.
Roses
Take your pink and white 6″ strips of paper. Turn these into roses. To create the roses, use your slotted quilling tool. Make 3-4 turns of your tool, then start folding your paper.
Fold the strip of paper about 45 degrees, fold the paper away from you. Turn your tool until the folded part of your strip is wrapped, continue turning and folding the paper. glue the end to together.
Place a small dollop of glue on the bottom of your rose to hold everything together and let it dry. Repeat this process with all the pink and white strips
Leaves
To create your leaves, use your 2″ strips of green paper. Create a small circle, glue the edge closed and pinch on part to create the droplet/leaf shape. Repeat this for all your 2″ strips of paper
Constructing your handmade card
Get your piece of cardstock and fold in half so it is 5″x4″. Place your rings in the middle of the lower half of your card, The first ring will lay flat to the paper, the second ring will lay on your first ring and the paper, so it will stick out. Next, place the roses and leaves onto the paper to match the picture below. Once you are happy with where everything is, glue everything down. Use the smallest amount of glue possible.
The last part is to place down your stickers to create your “congrats” when you place your stickers down, set them down as lightly as possible, so you can move them until you are sure they are in the right place. Then you’re done and you have a lovely handmade card to use for your next wedding!
