I made this DIY spider craft to go on my witches hat. It was so easy to make and I want to make more to decorate my home with them! It only took a few minutes to make and I think it turned out great!

Materials

  • black yarn
  • 1 black pipe cleaner
  • hot glue
  • crochet hook or needle
  • scissors

DIY Spider tutorial

Start by winding your yarn around two of your fingers. Go until the yarn is quite thick, about 20-30 times around.

Gently pull the yarn off your fingers and wrap the loose end around the opposite way. Wind it twice as tight as you can. This is creating the head and body of the spider, so do it about 2/3 the way up the yarn ball you made.

Cut the yarn about two inches from the spider. Stick your crochet hook under the tightly wound thread and pull the yarn end through. Leave a slight loop and pull the yarn through the loop to make a knot. Pull it tight.

now it’s time to do the legs. Take your pipe cleaner and cut it into four equal lengths.

Hot glue the pipe cleaners to the bottom of your spider. Glue right down the middle of the pipe cleaners.

Adjust the legs to go where you want them!
