I love to get my baby new toys to play with, but they can get so expensive! Especially when they’re so little and they won’t play with toys for very long, that’s why I love to DIY her toys. This week I did the coin drop toy. It was super easy and I didn’t have to buy anything extra, I used what I had around the house.

Materials

Puffs container (or any container with a plastic lid, preferably a taller container)

Cardboard- its best to use corrugated cardboard since its thicker

Paints/paintbrushes

Box cutter

Laminating sheets (I self laminated my coins- this step is optional)

Small circular container or cookie cutter, about 2 inches

Marker or pencil

All the supplies needed except for a pencil, brushes, and laminating sheets

Tutorial

Start by using your small container to trace 6 circles on your cardboard

Use box cutter to cut them out. I recommend cutting one, then making sure it will fit in your container and is a good size. If your child still puts everything in their mouth, make the coins as big as possible

Paint your coins. I did rainbow, but you can do whatever you like. Once they’re dry, you can laminate them if you’re choosing to do this step. I highly recommend laminating if your baby is still putting things in their mouth or your coins won’t last very long.

Take the label off your puffs container.

Take the lid of your puffs container and draw a slot on the lid. Make sure to center it and make the slot about 1/4″ wide and 2 1/4″ long.

Cut out the slot.

Put the lid back on and decorate the container if you would like.

Give the coin drop to your baby and enjoy!
