If you are new to crochet (and maybe even if you’re not) you may have heard of a magic circle. This is a technique to start a round crochet project. Itis better than the classic way of working in a chain because working in a chain will cause a small gap in the middle of the circle. A magic circle will not leave any hole in the middle of your project. It is also way easier to do once you get the hang of it.

How to make magic circle

Start by making a loop in your yarn. Make sure the yarn tail is on the top.

Holding the loop in place, use your crochet hook to pull the back yarn to the front. This is the first loop on your crochet hook.

Pull the yarn through, you’re completing a slip stitch. Pull this stitch tight

Continue with the amount of stitches your pattern calls for (mine called for 6 single crochets)

Pull the yarn tail hard until the stitches have joined each other and you have a circle with no gap in the middle.
