I don’t have any vases at my house, with spring time coming, I wanted a cute vase to put some spring flowers in. I found this bottle and decided to make acid etched glass!

Materials

  • glass vase
  • Stencil vinyl (you will print a stencil with a Cricut machine. If you don’t have one you can still cut something simple with an exacto knife)
  • tweezers
  • glass etching cream
  • paintbrush
  • masking tape

Making your stencil

Find a cute pattern on your cricut and cut it out on your stencil vinyl. Now you will need to pick out your vinyl pieces.

Pick out the parts you WANT to be etched. This is usually going to be the opposite part than you would typically pick out.

Put your transfer tape over your stencil vinyl and make sure you pick up every little piece of the vinyl.

Carefully place the sticky side onto your glass. Next, press the vinyl into the glass and make sure it is as stuck as you can get it. Peel back the clear plastic piece.

Tape off the rest of your bottle. Any exposed glass is at risk of being etched.

Acid Etched Glass

Paint the glass etching cream onto the glass. Let it sit as per instructions (1-5 minutes)

Rinse the glass and paintbrush in water. Rinse off the the etching cream completely.

Finally peel off all the vinyl and tape. Enjoy your acid etched glass vase!
