I have a pair of tights that I cannot wear. The foot part is backward so I can’t wear them, but there aren’t any holes or other issues with them. It would be a shame to throw them out because the fabric is perfectly fine. I decided I would try to figure out ways to use up the tights. I started with something really easy. A headband. This tutorial will take about 5 minutes to complete.

Materials

A pair of tights (I used knit tights, but if you have nylons, you could use them too. They work great for baby headbands)

Scissors

A bow, flower or other accessory to put on your headband (I used my Valentine heart)

a needle and thread

Headband Tutorial

Lay out your tights and choose a section to cut. You will be cutting a circle from one of the legs. I used the top part because I didn’t want the pattern on my headband, but the pattern could be cute. Also consider who your headband is for. If you are making this for a small baby, you may want to cut around the ankle, if you are making it for you, you will want to go to the top of the leg. You’ll want to cut a 1-3 inch section.

After you cut the section, pull on the fabric so it stretches and rolls

Now choose where your accessory will go and sew it onto your headband

You’re all done!
