My baby is celebrating her first Christmas this year, so I really wanted to make her a cute, unique ornament to put on the tree. I love the idea of a Baby’s First Christmas Ornament, so I decided to use the hat they put on her in the hospital and made this super cute, easy Christmas ornament. It only took a few minutes to make, and used mostly things I already had and was looking for a way to preserve, plus it only cost 50 cents! (if you don’t count the cost of having a baby)

Materials

  • Small glass or plastic clear ornament (I decided on plastic since that is a bit more baby friendly, I found a 2 pack at the dollar store)
  • Hospital baby hat
  • hospital baby ID
  • tweezers or pencil

Putting together the Baby’s First Christmas Ornament

First you need to pull the top of the ornament off so you can fill it. Then roll the ID bracelet loosely with the words facing out, and squeeze it through the top of the ornament. It will unroll in the ornament, and you can reach in with tweezers or the eraser end of a pencil to adjust where it sits until it’s where you want it.

Now you will fill the ornament with the baby’s hospital hat. This was a bit hard to fit into the ornament, and I did have to do a bit of work to get it stuffed in. I used tweezers to start, but I switched to using the eraser end on a pencil to push the hat into the ornament.

Using the tweezers or pencil, move the hat around to make sure it looks how you want. To finish you will put the cap of the ornament back on your ornament, and you are all done, you now have a Baby’s First Christmas Ornament to hang on your tree!
